H-PCAACA Discussion List

Audio-Visual Equipment

The Audio-Visual equipment that we will have available in every conference room at the Renaissance Hotel St. Louis and the America's Center is as follows:

  1. Large projection screen
  2. Data projector, with connection cables for the provided DVD player and for your own laptop computer.
  3. DVD Player
  4. PC laptop/notebook to play CDs and DVDs, and equipped with a USB drive for playing flash or finger disks. These will run all files in Windows Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and so on, but all files must be compatible with Office 2003 or earlier. So if you use Word 2007, save the file in compatible mode. And be sure to test your file before coming to the conference.
  5.  MAC users will need to bring their laptops and a special adapter. You can order one for about $19 at Apple.com (http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9320G/A) or find them at Best Buy and other locations.
  6. You may also bring your own PC laptop, with PowerPoint installed (or other software) for presentations if you desire.
  7. At your own expense, you may make arrangements with the hotel for any special audio-visual equipment that the PCA/ACA does not supply (but be advised that equipment rental is costly).

In addition, most VHS tapes, slide presentations, and other video presentations can be transferred to DVD, either for a fee or, sometimes, through your school’s AV/IT departments for free. You may want to consider this option as well.
