Mystery & Detective Fiction Area
Popular Culture Association

The Mystery & Detective Fiction Area of the Popular Culture Association seeks proposals for the annual conference. We seek proposals—for individual papers as well as panels—on all aspects and periods of mystery and detective fiction, including
- history
- criticism
- theory
- current trends
Since this conference will be held in Washington, DC, we would like to highlight works by local writers and/or works set in this region.
Additional topics may include
- classic detective writers/works
- historical texts or history of detection
- feminist writers/detectives
- mixed genre
- hardboiled detective fiction
- ethnicity or race of writers/in fiction
- GLBT writers/fiction
- other media, including film, television, the internet
First time presenters: If you would like to be considered for the Earl Award for the best paper, please contact the area co-chairs for more information.
Proposals are due December 7, 2012.

Proposals must include a title and an abstract of 150-200 words.
