The SPORTS AREA of the Popular Culture Association and the American Culture Association invites proposals for individual or panel presentations at the annual meeting of
POPULAR CULTURE ASSOCIATION & AMERICAN CULTURE ASSOCIATION
March 27-30, 2013

Presentations related to sports and teams in Washington (the Nationals, Redskins, Wizards, Capitals, DC United, Mystics, etc.) and vicinity (e.g., the Orioles, Ravens, Terps, IronBirds, and Keys) are especially invited. Presentations on exhibits, archives, or research resources in the Washington area (including the Smithsonian and the Library of Congress) and on sports events such as the Military Bowl are also encouraged.
Topics on all areas of sports (history, literature, ethics, sociology, current issues, etc.) are welcomed.
Presentations should be completed within twenty minutes and should stimulate audience questions and discussion. Presentations utilizing various media are especially welcomed.
The deadline for a 250-word abstract is December 7, 2012. Inquiries about possible papers or proposals for sessions can be directed to either of the area co-chairs listed below. Presentation at the conference requires current membership in the PCA or the ACA.
All proposals and paper submissions should be sent electronically through the PCA Database (http://ncp.pcaaca.org).
If your paper is accepted, you will receive an acceptance letter, including information related to membership, registration, and hotel accommodations.
