Academics and Collegiate Culture

We are considering proposals for sessions organized around a theme, special panels, and/or individual papers.

Sessions are scheduled in 1½ hour slots, typically with four papers or speakers per standard session.

Presentations should not exceed 17 minutes. Working professionals, scholars, educators, and graduate students are all encouraged to submit. Undergraduate students may submit in a panel or session with their professor.

Proposals which look at aspects of Collegiate Culture and Teaching (Academics) in relation to popular culture are welcomed.


Possible themes for papers/panels include but are not restricted to:

Early/ Late Career Reflections, Online Teaching Innovations, Canvas/Zoom and the Online Classroom, Alternate Plans for College Clubs/Activities Under Covid-19, Administrative Concerns, General Collegiate Concerns, Faculty Contracts and Teaching Responsibilities.



Panel proposals of 4 speakers and/or discussion panels of 4-6 participants each are also encouraged. Please contact the Area chair and include the following: Panel Title Name and contact information for the Panel Chair Titles and abstracts of each paper Contact information for each presenter. 


All presenters must be members of the PCA and must register for the conference.

All presenters must be current, paid members of the PCA and registered for the conference. Non-presenters who attend the full conference must also pay membership fees.

To attend the National Conference, members must pay the membership fee and the registration fee. Membership fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Submissions for paper proposals are now open. The submission deadline is December 20, 2022. Please be sure you read and understand all instructions, policies, and procedures before you submit your proposal.
