Call for papers: 

The Appalachian Studies Area of the PCA/ACA National Conference seeks to further understanding of this region of the United States and its role in the geographic imagination. Presentations should be developed for a 15-minute reading.

Possible subject areas include but are not limited to the following:

  • Regional Rhetorics
  • Tourism, Culture, and Environment
  • Literature and Popular Fiction
  • Art, Photography, and Music
  • History and Economy
  • Film, Television, and other Media
  • Politics of Culture
  • Class, Gender, Race, Ethnicity

Paper proposals should include a paper title, abstract (250 words maximum), one-page CV, and notification of any audio-visual needs. Please note that overly general proposals are difficult to review; accordingly, your abstract should outline your research questions, thesis and main points, methodology, and projected conclusions.
