The Grateful Dead area invites scholars from all disciplines to join us for our meeting in 2023!
Academics, professionals, and graduate students are all encouraged to submit proposals for papers, sessions, discussion panels, and special sessions on any aspect of the Grateful Dead and their associated contexts.
The area welcomes presentations on the Grateful Dead’s music, lyrics, performance, audience, critical reception, and history, as well as their associated contexts, including art, the counterculture, and fan studies. Proposals that address critical and theoretical perspectives are especially encouraged. Comparative analyses are welcome.
Sessions are 90 minutes. Presentations should not exceed 15-20 minutes. Panel proposals should include 3 to 4 papers; roundtable discussion panels should include 4 to 6 participants.
The area encourages audio/visual presentations. We also meet informally in the evenings and will have an area dinner.
Please submit an abstract of no more than 250 words (including presentation title) and complete contact information (name, institutional affiliation, mail and e-mail addresses, and contact telephone number) to http://conference.pcaaca.org.
Please include the following:
- Paper Title
- Name and contact information
- Paper abstract
For panel proposals, please include the panel title and abstract, each paper abstract and presenter information, and moderator information.
