The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, & Queer Studies area is home to emerging and established scholars interested in subjects at the intersection of Queer Studies and Popular Culture, examined using a variety of approaches.
We are considering proposals for sessions organized around a theme, special panels, and individual papers. Sessions are scheduled in 1½ hour slots, typically with four papers or speakers per standard session. Presentations should not exceed 15 minutes. As always, proposals addressing any topic at the intersection of culture and queerness are welcome.
This year, we are especially eager to receive proposals concerning queer representation in media and the press and the manner in which LGBTQ+ people figure in the current political conversation in the U.S. and internationally.
