Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Studies

Primary tabs

Accepts undergraduate submissions

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, & Queer Studies area provides a positive and welcoming environment for the sharing of scholarship and related discussion of topics addressing the intersection of LGBTQ+ identities and popular culture, defined broadly.

We are considering proposals for sessions organized around a theme, special panels, and individual papers.  Sessions are scheduled in 1½ hour slots, typically with four papers or speakers per standard session.  Presentations should not exceed 15 minutes.  As always, proposals addressing any topic at the intersection of culture and queerness are welcome.

This year, we are especially eager to receive proposals concerning LGBTQ+ people and the COVID19 pandemic, the politics of trans* identities, and updates on LGBTQ+ visibility and representation in media and the press.

Should you or any of your colleagues be interested in submitting a proposal or have any questions, please contact:

LL submissions must be made through the conference submission site.  For individual papers, please submit a title and 100-word abstract.  For themed paper sessions, each presenter must enter her/his own presentation and the chair should contact Professor Drushel to assemble them into a panel.  You should also contact Professor Drushel for help in submitting roundtable discussions.
