Shakespeare on Film and Television

The 50th Popular Culture Association (PCA) National Conference will be held June 2-5, 2021 in Boston, MA

 

The Shakespeare on Film and Television area explores Shakespeare in a variety of media beyond the traditional stage, including film, television, anime, manga, and recent novelizations of the play.  We have previously had papers on the following topics and invite new ideas all the time.

  • What is a Shakespeare Adaptation?
  • Translating Shakespeare into Film: Additions, Omissions, Anachronisms
  • Shakespearean Auteurs
  • Shakespeare in Silent Film
  • Shakespeare biopics and television takeoffs
  • Shakespeare in the Global Marketplace
  • Latino Shakespeare
  • Shakespeare in China
  • Anime, Manga, and animated Shakespeares
  • Shakespeare on British Television
  • Shakespeare and the genre film
  • Slings and Arrows, Shakespeare on Canadian Television
  • Transgressive Shakespeare
  • Shakespeare, gender and sexuality
  • Shakespeare for the Classroom

Please submit a 250 word proposal and a brief CV before November 16, 2020 to the PCA website pcaaca.org  Submissions will be accepted only through the PCA website, and individuals must be current, paid members to submit to the conference.

All presenters must be current, paid members of the PCA and fully registered for the conference.

Refund requests must be submitted in writing. Full or partial refunds will be processed according to the following schedule:
Requested by Jan. 31: 100% refund
Requested by Feb 7: 75% refund
Requested by Feb 14: 50% refund
Requested by Feb. 21: 25% refund
After Feb. 28: 0% refund

Membership fees are non-refundable.
