Armed Conflict is merging with War after 1945: History, Literature Culture, and the Arts*


We invite presentations about


  • War after 1945: Korea, Vietnam, Gulf, Iraq, Afghanistan; and peacekeeping missions and involvement in Europe, Central America, Africa, and the Middle-East.
  • Armed conflict from any historical period.
  • Writers and artists of original fiction, poetry, drama, art, and music.
  • All approaches will be honored: scholarly, interdisciplinary, multicultural, film, literature, history, sociology, political science, linguistics, ethnicity, folklore, and oral history.


Send a 250-word abstract, including the title of the paper, through the PCA web site at ncp.pcaaca.org. You may also submit a proposal for a complete panel. For each presenter, include name, department and university affiliation (if appropriate), mailing address, phone number(s), and e-mail address.

*Presenters from both areas are invited to a meeting Wednesday evening to discuss the merger of the two areas, develop and blend paper subject parameters, and create a new and inclusive name for our newly merged area (time and location TBA).

February 1, 2020             Presenter Registration Deadline – participants who have not registered are removed from the program.

February 2, 2020              Registration ends for presenters at midnight.
April 15-18, 2020              National Conference

All presenters must be current, paid members of the PCA and fully  registered for the conference.

Refund requests must be submitted in writing. Full or partial refunds will be processed according to the following schedule:
Requested by Jan. 1: 100% refund
Requested by Jan. 15: 75% refund
Requested by Jan. 25: 50% refund
Requested by Feb. 1: 25% refund
After Feb. 1: 0% refund

Membership fees are not refundable.
