Dear Fairy Tales community, many of you know, some do not - here is the news: Vladimir Propp’s sequel is finally here: Indiana University Press published the first full English translation of Vladimir Propp’s "Historical Roots of the Wondertale". While the "Morphology of the Folktale" we all know and love focuses on the synchronic structure - the "how" of the story, the Historical Roots tackles the diachronic "why." Propp himself considered these two works a single "duology," with Historical Roots serving as the essential conclusion to his research into the origins of myth and ritual.
Happy Reading to all!!

I am shamelessly campaigning for your vote. I am running for a Trustee position. Please vote for me and rank me as your first choice. I also recommend James Okapal. I am not very familiar with the other candidates.

For the VP of Awards, I cannot more highly recommend Uzoamaka Melissa Anyiwo. She is an amazing leader, scholar, and human being. She is also organized and responsible. All great qualities for a VP.

You should have received an email with the subject line of "2024 PCA Board Elections - Call for Nominations." The call for nominations part was an error. This is actually the email that has the ballot. If you did not receive the email and you are current on your membership, please contact Etherio at contact@pcaaca.org.
