Hey all —
Please check out this announcement from the Chicago Diversity Sub-Committee about an initiative for this year's conference.

The Chicago Diversity Sub-Commitee and PCA Board are hosting a conference social event: a dance party highlighting themes of community and solidarity (inspired by the values of Soul Train and other important popular culture phenomena born in Chicago). There will even be conference-wide dance lessons available so members can learn popular Chicago social dances that we can do together at the party.
We aim to create an open educational resource that participants can access to learn more about Chicago popular culture. This OER will include materials that underscore important ideas, such as community, activism, and solidarity; participants can use the resources in class or simply peruse them for their own interest.
We're looking for people to get involved, both in generating materials about Chicago's fashion, style, appearance, consumption, and design communities and cultures, and about Chicago popular culture in general!
If you're interested, please reach out to Jen Atkins, PCA board member and dance/dance culture area co-chair, via email at jatkins@fsu.edu by Wednesday, February 14 and she'll pass along more details.
