Come to Atlanta, a city that played an important role in the US Civil War and the 1960’s Civil Rights Movement. Downtown Atlanta has been revitalized by the expansion of Georgia State University from a commuter college to a R-1 University. Check out the Martin Luther King National Historic Site, the Georgia Aquarium, the World of Coca-Cola, the CNN center and the College Football Hall of Fame.
Proposals will be considered for sessions organized around a theme, special panels, and/or individual papers. Sessions are scheduled in 1½-hour slots, typically with four papers or speakers per standard session. Presentations should not exceed 15 minutes. Working professionals, scholars, educators, and graduate and undergraduate students are all encouraged to submit. Discussion panels of 4-6 participants each are also welcome. All potential presenters must be members of the PCA at the time of submission of abstracts for consideration. If your proposal is accepted, you must register for the conference.
PCA/ACA is committed to an interdisciplinary approach. Papers that examine political campaigns or individuals/operations, the use of electronic and print media either to report on or to promote political events and issues, political language, and the use of new media technology such as cell phones/mobiles and the web are areas of particular interest. Studies that focus on US presidential primaries and earlier elections are also welcome. Studies may include press coverage, cartoons, and the response to the electoral process in film and literature. We also welcome studies on the participation of women, gays, Transgenders, African Americans, and minorities in politics.
Interested individuals should submit an abstract of no more than 300 words (including the presentation title) and complete contact information (name, institutional affiliation, mail, e-mail addresses, and contact telephone number) to the database at https://conference.pcaaca.org.
