Welcome to the Food in Popular Culture community! We’re so happy you’re here and we want you take full advantage of the opportunities our new platform provides. Please read over the code of conduct so we can continue to ensure a safe and supportive space for all. Thank you for your dedication to the Popular Culture Association!
Call For Papers
The Food in Popular Culture area is soliciting papers dealing with any aspect of Popular Culture as it pertains to food and drink. Possible topics include:
· Genre cookbooks
· Food or drink in literature
· Dietary trends/fads
· Food or drink in television, film, or other media
· Food and economics
· Advertising/marketing history for food or drink
· Dining trends over time
· Regional or area-specific foods
· Domestic science education
Papers from independent scholars and students are welcome. PCA encourages works in progress and all are encouraged to engage in scholarly discourse outside of areas in which they may normally work. For example, in Food in Popular Culture we have had theoretical mathematicians, physicists, and museum personnel present papers.
Proposals are submitted at https://conference.pcaaca.org
Presentations should not exceed 15 minutes. Panels are typically made up of 3-4 individuals and each session lasts 1½ hour with adequate time for
