The SPORTS AREA of the Popular Culture Association invites proposals for individual or panel presentations at the annual meeting of


POPULAR CULTURE ASSOCIATION
National Conference
Atlanta, GA - April 8-11, 2026


Presentations are welcomed in all areas of sports scholarship, including history, media, technology, economics, philosophy, politics, sociology, and cultural studies of sport.

 

Topics related to sporting events, venues, and teams, past and present, in Georgia or the American South are especially encouraged. Proposals about American sports history, sports and political expression, and sports and gender, are also invited.

 

Presentations should be completed within twenty minutes and should stimulate audience questions and discussion. Presentations utilizing various media are especially welcomed. Panel proposals of 4 speakers and/or discussion panels of 4-5 participants each are also encouraged.

 

The deadline for a 250-word abstract is November 30, 2025. Inquiries about possible papers or proposals for sessions can be directed to the co-chair listed below. Presentation at the conference requires current membership in the PCA or the ACA.

 

All proposals and paper submissions should be sent electronically through the PCA Database (https://sites.google.com/view/2025pcaconference/home).

 

If your paper is accepted, you will receive an acceptance e-mail, including information related to membership, registration, and hotel accommodations.

  • Preliminary Program draft available - Feb. 6, 2026

 

Those Presenters Not Registered by Feb. 15 Will be Dropped from the Program
