The Popular Culture Association publishes two flagship, peer-reviewed journals in partnership with Wiley. Both journals are central to PCA’s mission to support innovative, interdisciplinary scholarship on popular culture and American culture in global contexts.

 

Digital Access to PCA Journals

Wiley, PCA’s journal publisher, no longer produces print copies of either journal. All access is now digital.

PCA members receive digital access to both journals as part of their membership.

Please follow the steps below to access your online journal:

  1. Login to your PCA membership. 
  2. Go to the PCA website and click on About and then Journal Access
  3. Follow the instructions on this page. 

 

Journal of Popular Culture (JPC)

 

The Journal of Popular Culture (JPC) is one of the two flagship journals of the Popular Culture Association. JPC publishes peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary scholarship that examines popular culture in all its forms, both historical and contemporary.

 

Scope and Focus

JPC welcomes original research on topics including (but not limited to):

  • Film, television, and streaming media
  • Comics, animation, and graphic narratives
  • Popular literature and genre studies
  • Music, performance, and fan cultures
  • Digital media, gaming, and emerging platforms
  • Race, gender, sexuality, class, and identity in popular culture
  • Transnational and global popular culture

 

Submissions

JPC accepts submissions on a rolling basis. All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review.

Journal of American Culture (JAC)

 

The Journal of American Culture (JAC) is one of the two flagship journals of the Popular Culture Association and is published in partnership with Wiley. JAC is a multidisciplinary cultural studies journal dedicated to advancing scholarship on the diverse, contested, and evolving meanings of American culture.

 

Scope and Focus

JAC publishes peer-reviewed research on:

  • American popular culture, media, and visual culture
  • Literature, film, television, and digital cultures
  • Music, performance, and sound studies
  • Cultural history, memory, and heritage
  • Race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, disability, and class
  • Politics, ideology, and cultural power
  • Transnational, diasporic, and comparative approaches to American culture

 

Submissions

JAC welcomes original manuscripts that combine strong theoretical frameworks with clear cultural analysis and historical grounding. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed through a double-blind peer-review process.
